I just recently aquired (for free  ) a few guns. One being a CIL .22 cal. Model 171 bolt action.
Unfortunately the bolt is missing. Does anyone know where I might be able to find one?

Can't find anything on the 171 but CIL sold a lot or rebranded Savage and Anshutz rifles..

Please post a pic of this rifle. There is a fellow that shows up at the gun shows that usually has Anschutz parts, but at this point that does not help. I have a bolt that I bought from him for a cil 125, unfortunately, it did not work and I still have it. I am in Penhold, and if you are ever around this neck of the woods, let me know and we could check it to see if it will work. I would be willing to part with it, but the cil/ anschutz stuff is a little pricey. PM me for more details. Otherwise, post a wanted in the exchange forums and see if you get any bites. Later.

I think the 171 is the Brazilian repro of a Remington model ?.
~511, mostly in appearance and dimensions. Bolt and trigger group are quite different though- I very much doubt that bolts will inter-change between them. The CIL 171 works fine with the original 6 round 511 mag. Manufacturer was CBC of Brazil. Same gun was carried by K-mart as the Mag-Tech 1-22.

That's listed on Numrich as "CBC 1-22"

Bolt is listed as out of stock at this time. I've got a pic of my 171 CIL in my files- just a matter of digging it up.

J.B. Wood listed the Remington 525 as the same gun in his rimfire dis-assembly/re-assembly book.

You might want to give western gun parts in Edmonton a try- they might have what you're looking for.

E-mail me your pic if you can't get it posted...

Thanks, Nessy. I spent over an hour going through the hard drive looking for my 171 pic and it looks as if I've dumped it. I'm gonna "borrow" your catalog image for my own selfish purposes.;)

Edit to add link... there's a few good pictures here, rifles and bolts. Lot's of discussion on the various incarnations of this rifle. If Wood listed the 525, I'm fairly sure Rem offered it briefly as a "bargain buster". Do a Search for Remington 525 on the rimfire central remington page, and you'll find a bit to read...

It's not the same as the Remington 525.
The 525 appears to be an exact copy of the Remington 511.
It has the beehive bolt. From the picture, the CIL doesn't.
I don't remember it havng the odd, high sights either.
I'll dig up a picture of my 525 (now sold).
No info on the 525 out there - if you search RimfireCentral you'll find my post and a few others looking for information. Remington must be real proud of it - not mentioned on their site.

Howdy Slash- been a while.

You may be on to something there- numrich lists a different bolt # for the 525. My CIL marked 171 has a much simpler ramp elevator rear sight than what's pictured. The gun has potential though- I wrung some not too bad groups out of mine after tweaking the bedding a bit. This has to be the worst trigger I've come across in a long time, though. The gun's a vault queen for that reason. I can't see a way to get a decent pull out of it. Some time when I'm feeling plenty patient over the winter, I'll drive those splined pins out, and start polishing what I can...

I tried calling Western Gun Parts last week....no luck, no bolt :(

Its too bad if I can`t come up with a bolt. The rifle is basicly in very good condition. Theres very little wear in the barrel and no rust whatsoever. I told my brother in Ontario to keep his eyes open and ask any of his gun buds if they know of any bolts floating around.

I have a Reminton 525, bought from the Sears catalogue when I was 14 for the princely sum of $27.95. Snared a lot of rabbits for that one.

It does NOT have the beehive bolt.

It looks exactly like the schematic earlier in the thread and is marked as being manufactured by CBC.

Thanks for the picture nessy357! :D Great info!!! I have a bunch of gun catologs from the early to mid 70's kicking around somewhere and if I ever find out what the hell I did with them I'll try to scan some pictures and share them too! :)
