Hi

To the experts out there, is an Olympic Arms AR 15 a decent rifle to buy or what? Any and all info on this matter will be very much appreciated.
Thanks GRaydog

They are murdered for poor quality all over the US boards. Again, I have no personal experience with them (and won't;))

I wish they would export out of the US without us having to use a 3rd Party importer. They are the only ones I've heard of that makes a .45ACP upper.

I have a late-80's complete rifle from Olympic. It works OK, though it's tough to disassemble (too tight) and the bolt face is so rough it makes the headstamps on the cases hard to read after 2 firings. I have 3 Colt uppers, 2 will fit on the Oly lower without issue, 1 will not go for love nor money. The Oly upper has never fit on any other lower I ever tried it with. The charging handle from the Oly won't fit in other brands of uppers.

Complaints about them seem to have dropped off in recent years, but all through the 80s, 90s and early 00's compatibility was a huge issue for Olympic.

I have the spec sheets for where to drill the holes for the ejector. Really you need the barrel and bolt, and then the lower, although I guess it would make more sense to get it all in one shot. But it would be easy enough to get a .45ACP barrel blank and turn it to exact AR15 specs, then you just need the bolt and lower..

Go with an AR45 lower from CNC guns and get someone to finish it...
