my Remington MODEL 700 VLS In .243 didn't start really shooting great until about 3400+fps (hot loads with 95gr's). At a little over that i was doing clover-leafing / (some shot in shots) @ 200Ish Meters.
But you can imagine that something moving that quickly with that much powder trying to get around the bullet is going to be a barrel burner.
Look at the Handload charts of 243 .. a grain moves the fps quite alot near the high end mark.
Add on top of that the argument of boat-tail bullets wearing barrels faster ( yea i know some say bs).. and you have a barrel burner. but a accurate one if you can get things tuned in quickly.
