Hopefully someone can help educate me.
I have a Colt New Frontier in .44 Special - serial # NF08###
According to the Blue Book of Gun Values the serial # is in the right range for a 3rd gen. but the NF is supposed to be a suffix, not a prefix. In 3 different places in the Blue Book it states that the serial # will be followed by NF.
Mine starts with NF.
What gives????

Yes, you are right...you have a 3rd generation made in 1979. The difference with the 2nd gen. is the 0 before the serial number. All the New Frontiers I have seen had the NF as a suffix. It could be a "mistake"...in that case the value of your gun would increase. I will inquire for you but first could you post a picture (you could block the last 2 digits!).
