But have you seen the restricted rifles you can use for IPSC.
that's why i want to shoot IPSC Three Gun
they are truely awesome..........
Seen them? I own one. :D

My idea was more in the interest of helping our rifleman brothers who have not yet seen the light. ;)

So,

As a rifleman, relatively recently involved in IPSC shooting, and very interested in some "running&gunning" with rifles, what's the story?

Is there a source for helping set up rifle stages for IPSC matches?

Does the power factor still count for rifles?

Is there minor/major for rifles?

I figure you'd be limited to an exposure of no more than 2 targets and maybe a popper per segment...or do you have to do reloads on the fly and engage multiple targets in a segment? IE, centerfire semi-auto rifles only have 5 round mags, so with 1 up the spout, you have a max of 6 rounds....double tapping two targets plus a popper leaves you one in the spout for a "miss/re-engage" or a tactical reload.

So, anyone have a source for info (online maybe?) for me to look at wrt setting up rifle stages?

Thanks,

NS

last NS 2 gun match we had 30 round stages, targets 5 to 200 yards and at least a 100 yard run on one stage. I'll look for my copy of the stages.

I need more mags holders!

Yes - Basically, 223 is Minor, 30-06 is major. See the rules link Viper pointed to for details in between. Note that many 11" ARs don't make minor, but most mech techs do.

Single best round scored per target stages are common. Rules stipulate no more that 4 rounds are mandatory from one position (like pistol with 9...)

JS tells me that this year's IPSC long gun match will be back to a 3 gun format. It will take advantage of our 600m range (but not all of it. ;) ) due to be built this summer. We're moving the date from the scheduled Sept 30 to the next weekend; October 6/7 so it doesn't conflict with NSRA's match or the Truro Gunshow. NS - you're gonna love it.
