I have a Leupold rimfire 2-7x28 mounted on a savage mark 2.

I used the lowest bases and rings I could find locally which are the weaver 16 bases and the Burris Zee rings LOW.

This setup is still WAY too high. If there was some way to do it, I would like to cut the height exactly in half.

Is there any base/ring setup which would allow me to do that?

The catch: the scope is mounted as far back as possible as is needed. If any 'wider' rings were used, it would be too far forward.

That's something that I had considered but I want to avoid if at all possible.

As you can see from the picture, there's quite a lot of room to move the scope down to the height of where the iron sights were...

The bolt isn't even close to touching either.

Surely there must be some kind of mounting system available somewhere that is lower than this!

contact talley they may have what you need. on the other hand you may not be able to get that much lower, a bigger bell on that scope and you won't have much clearance you may be limited

That's some good advice! I hadn't looked at the the Weaver rings since I've dealt with them in the past and had a hell of a time trying to level a scope reticle. I found it so problematic with the ring only fasting on one side which made the scope twist after it had been leveled.

It looks like they do offer some rings which screw down on both sides so I'll look into those! It seems western gun parts has them!

Burris saddle height is .150
Weaver saddle height is .089

That should be just the ticket!

Thanks!
