Need m1919 help

do you have to remove the case hardening or can it be machined the way it is with harder tool bits. Also did I cause the bolt damage somehow or was it an old or faulty bolt?

I am only going by what I have read on the US sites like M1919A4.com. I don't know enough about machining to give an informed opinion on this.

The breaking of the T slot is not an unusual occurrence on the M1919s. Luckily it hasn't happened to me yet. Not really sure what causes it.

ive read on 1919a4.com that some bolts the slots needed to be opened upo a bit so possibly yours was and was made too thin

as far as maching get a bolt 1st then worry about it

again call marstar they may have one

Got a c5 bolt on the way. If you ever deal with the member JMB hes a great guy, sold me the m1919 at a great price and when I called him up seeing if he had a spare bolt he dug one up and Is giving it to me free of charge. Also does anyone know a reputable machine shop in edmonton that can do the work for me?

The C5A1 bolt has some definite improvements over the standard M1919 Bolt. Any decent machine shop should be able to copy the changes from your TNW bolt over to your C5A1 bolt. The hard part will be trying to find a machine shop that will do one off work.

I can't think of any further mods that will be required when using the C5 bolt. The C5A1 did use a different extractor, but you should be OK with your Isreali extractor.

I have dealt with JMB over the years...some purchases and some sales. I have always been more than happy with my dealings with him.
