Just starting in reloading and for my Shadow in particular...If anyone has any advice on powders, primers and bullets can you let me know...I started shooting with Factory Federal FMJ 115 grains so I was thinking about starting out with those parameters, the shot once brass and perhaps a 115 Spitzer or JHP. I want a powder that I can use for both 9mm and .45 ACP. and Primers, well CCI in whatever my Lyman book tells me I guess.
Any suggestions or tips would be great. One thing is my brass after resizing is under the .751 trim to length however is consistent at .749...

I load for several CZ 9mms, including a Shadow.

I only use 135gr Lead Round Nose bullets. DWG brand bullets run around $30/500. I find the 135s shoot better than the 125s.

Best load has been 3.4gr of Titegroup and 1.120" OAL.

I found that I had to load a bit shorter than usual for the gun because of the tight chamber. Because of that I dropped a .2 of a grain in powder (was using WSF). To find the length that I was going to load to I put a projectile in a spent (but not resized case), took the barrel out of the gun and inserted the case/projectile into the chamber, which allowed the projectile to seat in the spent case to the right size for the chamber. I did this a few times and measured the OAL to make sure it was the same, then loaded a few rounds with no primer/powder at this length and made sure that they would cycle in the gun.

Pistol brass gets shorter after firing, so don't fret about trimming.

CZ are know for liking ammo on the short side. I believe the 9x19 can be up to 1.169 long and fit the average magazine, but most CZ owners seem to report loading to 1.130 or shorter for most bullet styles.

i'm with ganderite & his load , also same lead with 3.8/4.0 of 231 , 147 berry's or aim & 3.8/4.0 of 231 or 3.2/3.4 of titegroup . always chamber fit each new bullet for lenght check . 231 & tightgroup both work well in 9/45 .

My Shadow load is 4.3gr W231, Berry's 124gr RN, OAL is 1.087
Canuck223 is right- don't bother trimming.

Ok, so I'm going to be loading for my Shadow and have the PowerPistol at 5.9gr for a 115gr Hornady Jacketed RN. Thing is my Lyman manual only gives data for a 115 gr jacketed hollow point with an OAL of 1.090..Since I'm using a Jacketed RN should my OAL be somewhat longer?? I'm considering going to 1.130 somewhere between the minimum and max OAL's. Or am I going to long...I know it will chamber but will the charge be Ok????
