i bought an 11/87 trap gun but still walk away with a sore cheek .first time shooting at trap i went 4/5 5/5 5/5 5/5 then 1/5. second round dropped to 16/25.i am looking for some real help here, so if there is someone out there that can help it would be appreciated. thanks.Bucky

I am no trap expert, but these are my thoughts! Sounds like you need to get the gun fitted to you. If you have a sore cheek, you obviously aren't getting a good cheek weld, and the gun is slapping you around. Is no one at your club willing to help you out with instruction?

Sore cheek? Sound like recoil is going up instead of straight back. Drop at comb and drop at heel might be the culprit? Length of pull may be the cause? Pitch is probably involved? I doubt if you can solve this problem on line. What you need is a shooting instructor that knows stock fit, or a stock man who knows your sport.

Covey, that was mentioned to me tonight, fellow at our club says to shim the butt so the gun kicks back and not up. also a morgan butt plate was mentioned. i did however change my elbow position(also suggested to me by club member) and shot a 21 and a 23.cheek not sore like last week. i can thank Schneiderauto on here for the help. he is the member at our club.hope the suggestions you mentioned also help someone else. thanks Bucky
