Hi, I recently purchased some 30 carbine 110gr FCP RN made by campro to reload my 308win. this was actually an unintentional purchase. But I checked on the internet and it "seems" to indicate that it is at least safe and it's enough for some plink accuracy.
So have any of you tried reloading a 110gr 30carbine with IMR4064 powder? I'd like to know the loading date you guys tried because I doubt it's safe to copy the 110 gr 308win date directly to the 110gr 30 carbine.
Thanks!

Maybe I misunderstood you, but I presume that you want to load those bullets into a 308 Winchester, not into a 30 Carbine cartridge??

Because you are asking, I presume that you do not own a reloading manual?? I only looked in one - Speer #14. I do not know what is a FCP RN bullet from Campro. For jacketed 110 grain RNSP (# 1845) and for TMJ RN nose (#1846), Speer #14 shows Start 44.5 and Max 48.5 with IMR 4064 powder, IMI Commercial cases, CCI 200 primers. Their test firearm was Remington 700 with 22" barrel. They have lower numbers for 110 grain "Varminter" bullet (#1835) - 41.5 Start and 45.5 Max in same cases, primers, etc. - 308 Winchester - pages 452 and 453. There is a note that the #1835 is held to max velocity below 2,900 fps because of bullet construction.

On page 452 they list data for their 100 grain RNSP half jacket - #1805 - I have loaded hundreds of them in 308 Win, but not with IMR 4064, and that powder is not listed in the Speer manual with that bullet, either.

Don't use .30 carbine powder/data in .308win especially H110/win 296. There is data for IMR 4064 but these bullets may be driven to fast and come apart. A 110gr RN or FMJ is 2.515" in a .308 win. For plinking loads IMR4227/25gr-2121fps 27gr -2306fps and MAX 29gr -2469fps IMR 4064 data 41.5gr -2614fps 43.5gr -2743fps and 45.5gr -2860fps Also 4-6 gr of Unique should be running .22 LR velocities Use at own risk starting with lightest loads.

I played with CamPro 110 grain, round nose, plated lead bullets in the 308Win and 7.62x39

I used cast lead bullet loads, after watching the first several I shot turn to mist about 25 meters in front of the muzzle. Very noticeable.

Most 308Win rifle barrels have to tight a twist rate for the copper plated CamPro offerings.

M1 Carbines, depending on if they're aftermarket will have 5 groove, 18 inch barrels with a 1-20 twist rate which is just fine for stabilizing the short bullet they were intended to shoot.

IMR4064 is not an appropriate powder for light cast lead bullets in a case with the 308Win capacity.

The powder I finally settled on, was Unique.

17 grains of Unique over CCI 200 primers gave me appx 2200fps in a match rifle with a 1-15 twist rate Schilen barrel.

The bullets were quite accurate but not spectacular.

I found that if I reduced the charge, accuracy fell off dramaticly.

The 7.62x39 bolt action rifle has a 1-10 twist rate and the powder charge had to be reduced to 15 grains of Unique.

The bullets actually performed better in the 7.62x39 as far as accuracy went and velocities were very similar.

The "plated" CamPro bullets don't like to be pushed faster than 2200fps IMHO.

If velocities are higher, accuracy was erratic in the rifles I shot them out of.
