Need new barrel for Famae SG 540-1 5.56
So my Famae is now a smooth bore.
12K plus rounds.
Will post pics of barrel tomorrow.

Anyone know who can rebarrel or get a new barrel ?

I am not sure if a Swiss arms 540 or 550 barrel will fit ?

Swiss barrels should work with the famae. Did you use steel core or bimetal jacket bullets? That seems abnormally early for your barrel to wear. Can we see some pics?

Are the factory barrels not chromelined? 12000 is a very low round count to wear out a military rifle.

Chrome lined or not 12,000 is #### all unless it was all automatic fire...

Tried to get a good pic of bore but camera is dead. Cell phone sucks.
MINIMUM round count 12K plus plus plus
Lots of steel ammo fired
Gun runs great. The odd round is keyholing at 25 yards now

The replacement Famae barrels aren't all that expensive but I'm not sure how easy or hard it is to change one.

I've got about 2 thousand rounds through mine, could you maybe post pictures of any wearing on other parts like in the receiver and stuff and lower? Be curious to see how everything held up.

It was steel core stuff so it seems to make some sense.

The wear on mine hasn't even begun and I basically shoot the ol 55 grain AE stuff, about 4-500 rounds a month nowadays.

Could someone explain to me how the core of a bullet affects barrel wear.
