I'm looking for a new scope to mount on my savage 12VLP. I have a Nikon Prostaff on one of my other rifles, and I like it a lot more than the Bushnell 3200 I had on my Browning Xbolt. I was going to pickup a regular Prostaff 4-12 NP, but now I'm thinking on a 3.5-14 or 4.5-18 Prostaff 5. Anyone bought one of these and like it? Or should i be looking at another brand for the money (Vortex, Leupold, ect...)

I'd definitely stick with the Nikon (slightly biased), one thing to note for you. The Prostaff 5 is a step up from the standard Prostaff in light transmission and build quality. With the 4x eyebox's they are a great wide range scope. Also you get fixed 4 inch eye relief on them now. Hope you grab one and enjoy it!

I have to say after just buying 2 Nikon Prostaff (not Prostaff 5) rimfire 3-9x40 scopes, I am nothing but satisfied with my purchase. They were right around $200 a piece and they are crystal clear, well built, smooth scopes. Great light transmission, positive elev and wind adjustments. I find they focus very well for my eyes and have a decent amount of eye relief with a good range of focus.

So far Nikon will see repeat business from me!
