So on order with my Local shop I have a CZ 455 Varmint on order (be here at Christmas!). It is going to be my "nice" 22 rifle that I buy as I downsize the rest of my collection.

Now that I will be having a nice rifle, I want a nice scope to go along with it. First thing I thought of was a Leupold scope. A 3X9 is all I would really need, but I do have ideas of trying to shoot rimfire at 100, so maybe something with more magnification would be better.

I am going to sell my Ruger SR9 to finance this I think, so nothing really over $500.

So far I looked at my local store and they had a nice leupold 3X9 for $320 I think. I also have had good luck with a Weaver scope, but so far not liked bushnell scopes much.

Also, should I go for a rimfire only scope or a should a regular scope work just as well?

Any input would be great.

have a look at the Nikon Pro Staff rimfire 3-9X40 they are around $200 mark. I just picked one up the optics are bright and clear, I'm going to mount it on a 10/22 that I have been working on and should get a chance to try it out next week sometime. If you want to spend twice that amount then have a look at the Hawke Sidewinder 30 or the Sidewinder 30 Tactical. I have one of each and they both work very well.

Nice gun, I have the CZ American with a 4-12 X 40 Trophy and shoots holes in holes at 50 & almost as good @ 100 it's me.. pretty satisfied with the scope $189.00 at one of the sponsors here.

Running a Vortex Viper 4-12x40 with side parallax on my 455.

Good magnification, good resolution, not too heavy, and easy reset turrets. Have a photo in the CZ rimfire photo thread showing my setup.

make sure to get the high mounts

i have a nikon 4x fixed and i find the bell is right at a bad spot... its tight when i lift the bolt up and theres little clearance for my thumb !
imagine the longer length scopes would help ?

I have a CZ452FS with a Leupold VX1 2-7x rim fire scope i.e with 50 yard parallax. If you are want greater magnification you might consider the Redfield Revenge 6-18 with an adjustable objective. The Leupold UltimateSlam scopes have a parallax setting of 75 yards compared to the 100 yards for a VX2 3-9x. I have thought of putting the UlimateSlam 3-9x with the illuminated reticule on my CZ452FS, since it has hold over points on the reticule as well as illumination.
