Need opinion on Czech and Yugo Mausers

The YugoM48 is a beast of a rifle.
I owned and shot one quite a bit before I sold her.
I still regret that sale to this day :(
I'll get one back one day lol

But honestly, they are awesome rifles. Nuts to the K98's unless you're into the history. You can get a M48bo for under $500 most times on the EE. It's mint condition. Mirror finish bore. Not very collectable so no guilt shooting the #### out of her.

They are very accurate for a bolt battle rifle and in the venerable 8mm Mauser to boot.

Do it Sir, do it

I have a "good" condition M24/47 that I got from Marstar awhile ago; I would put it's condition as "excellent". Apart from a few dings in the stock, the bore on this thing is brand new as they were rebarrelled in 1947. Best $350 I ever spent......

man, i am glad I got mine..

I wish I would have been able to get one a few months ago however, as I want one that is VG=/excellent with all matching numbers, but even mine is great fun!!

I envy you guys your "as new numbers matching ones"

There must be a few around, someone bought an "investment" and still has it in the cosmoline.

Well I've posted this one before but I can't pass up an opportunity to show it off again so here it is. M48A in basically unissued condition, all matching. I did clean the cosmoline out of it but haven't shot it.

Regarding the Yugo M28 rifles; people say "no collector value." I don't know if I agree, they are the last military Mauser 98 rifles made, that should count for something. They are 1950s or 60s production made by a communist country, the fitting and finish does not compare to pre WW2 fit and finish. I've seen some fitting of the furniture that should not have made it off the line. Mine had some deep file marks up the center of the feed ramp.

jbmauser, nice stuff! Odd thing I noticed about serial numbers on that tho. mine is an M48BO and its only a 48### serial number.

It's a different model ~ the "BO" translates to "without markings" ... from what I read they were produced for export to Egypt only 3000 were made and the contract was never delivered, though I don't know for sure if someone could clear that up. [sometimes you will hear them being referred to as Egyptian Mausers]

And definitely collectible.. it's a Mauser !! :) 20 years from now we'll be moaning about the $300 & $400 e paid these days :(

Any milsurp should be considered collectible. They aren't being made any more and all have history to them. Some more than others, but they are all important.

Nice pics of your m48a. I think they have made up my mind about which mauser to buy. What condition did you buy the mauser in?

I don't remember what condition they were listed as. This was from the small batch Marstar brought in several months ago (last fall?) for $329. I paid the extra 25 bucks for hand select. I would rate it as excellent/unissued. Pretty much new except for a few small dings in the wood.

There's some guy who has one up right now on the EE for a steal at around $650 + shipping hahahaha

I paid $500 after taxes and shipping to my door for one still in the cosmoline unissued from Marstar about 2 years back.

yea, its just going that way now. None left, its a closed system now, and as they get worn, damaged, ruined, lost etc, they will get rarer.

Sucks, I'd love a perfect one. Mine is quite nice, don't get me wrong, but an as new one would be awesome, but I don't have the funds for one.

My dad was telling me about how in the 80s you could get one for $25!!
