So while ago I was given a LongBranch DCRA rifle in 7.62x51, complete with Sterling Magazine and .308 button ejector. When I got a hold of the rifle, I had found that the barrel was cut down about 6-7 inches, the bolt had the handle ground flat on one side, and the stock had been shortened as well, although was done well and now sits on my hunting rifle.
I had intended to restore the rifle with a new barrel, bolt and stock, all of which I have now accumulated, but now I am wondering, should I? The barrel and bolt all have the matching DCRA numbers. And Im wondering if it would be better to keep them together and maybe do up some different project with the rifle, perhaps some sort of carbine?
For $75 I can get a NOS Long Branch stripped receiver. I could just build a new rifle from that and all the parts Ive collected. All I would need is another extractor and bolt head and a few small parts.
Im wondering if I would be better off building a new rifle or re-building the DCRA one?
Any input? I can think of benefits to both.
