I can pick this Kimber Stainless Raptor II up for $1000 all in. I've had a Norinco 1911 and liked it, just always wished it was more. Already have a Glock and a couple Tokarevs, looking for something shiny now.

Seller says gun is pretty much new. A good deal for $1000?

Thanks.

Considering these go for around $1800 brand new, something doesn't seem right IMHO. And that gun doesn't look "pretty much new" to me.

I'm not reading between the lines? I haven't seen it in person yet though. Does it look used? On my bigger pictures the marks on the control side just look like oily gunk. Hopefully that's all they are.

That's a stupid price. As in, only a stupid person would sell it to you for that. (Or a very close friend.) Be very cautious. Is it from the famous Canadian gun scam site? RUN.

Pistol looks brand new to me, but the pictures aren't showing the real wear areas.

Google Images isn't popping up with any clear evidence that the pictures were swiped from some other site, so that's good news.

buy it in a heart beat for that price

From some guy you don't know who's shipping it to you? I'd wait a few more heart-beats and get some solid information.

You will be amazed at the difference in every area over the Norinco, but as everyone else said, beware the scam. Ask for custom pics and some disassembled pics.

"If it seems too good to be true, it probably is."

An almost new Kimber like that one at only CAD 1000?? I'd say pass, unless I know well the seller.

If you can see it in person before you buy, as you seem to indicate that you can, then at least you can give it a good look over, give it a shake, check the barrel fit, etc.

Otherwise I'd be asking for pictures with your name in them and of the broken down pistol as well.

On this site I generally trust my gut. Getting a bit of a conversation going with a seller also lets you feel them out. I don't deal with anyone that I can't have an easy conversation with, because I'm not put at ease.

for one thing you could ask if he's the first owner and why it's priced so reasonable. Only a real #### would double take and jack up the price on you if he suddenly realized that he was too low - you don't want to deal with such a person regardless.

If you can see it in person and it checks out then do the purchase in person. Call to initiate the transfer together then you can be reasonably sure that the seller is the registered owner. Legitimacy of ownership is at least as great a concern as condition.

Awesome thanks guys. This wasn't advertised and is being sold by a friend of friend(gunsmith) so pistol was probably purchased near cost to begin with.

I own a Kimber that is similar. I think you need to check it over carefully, if the seller is close by arrange for a range visit. That is awful cheap for that firearm.

Ditto - guys who sell on consignment, or who buy and sell, don't always test, check, or otherwise know if there are any issues with a used gun. Being sold by a 'smith doesn't give it a clean bill of health, as it were.

But if your friend vouches for the guy, at least you have that much.

The price definitely sounds 'good'. Google Kimber and contact them for an opinion on it. That's what I did prior to purchasing the Super Match II I was offered.

I believe the rep I talked to was located in Kalispell Montana. They were quite helpful. Also, out of the 1911's and 1911 wannabes I've had over the years, this Super Match II is by far the sweetest of the herd. And,;) probably the priciest.
