Thanks. Over the years, I've had a number of decent quality 1911's including about three Gold Cups. Good shooters and paper punchers. Presently, I have a custom 1911 that belonged to a shooter and gunsmith friend.
It was one he did up for his own use and I picked it up shortly after he passed away, for sentimental reasons.
From another friend, I purchased a 1911 'wannabe', a S&W 4506 that I may soon put up for adoption.
Good shooters, but they come in second to that Kimber Super Match II.
I checked out the pistol today in person. It's a bank vault. Feed ramp and extractor still look new. Barrel is good.
Looks like it saw a little condensation. Tiny bit of surface corrosion on the edges of the wood grips, and in the top slide serrations. No pitting though. Last person to handle it must have had dirty hands haha, the stippling is dirty in the grip.
It has a scratch, more like a rub mark, near the serial number. Looks like someone was wiggling a loose trigger lock on the frame.
It was stored in a garage for a few years and then the owner needed someone else to hold it I guess. I was right place right time to get the offer. My buddy can bead blast the slide and frame if I can't wipe it clean.
Kimber 1911s are nice once you get them broken in. Fit and finishing are above average for a production pistol. When Reliable guns was blowing them I was torn between the raptor and team match. Ending up buying the team match. Enjoy your Kimber good price at $1000. The raptor should be shiney after a good clean.
