Need optic for CZ455 - 17HMR

Hello,

I am looking to upgrade the optic on my CZ455 - 17HMR. I use it primarily for just bench rest shooting and plinking, nothing serious but would like to get a nice all purpose optic with improved magnification.

It currently sports a not so impressive vortex crossfire 3-9x40, so I wouldn't mind an optic that allows me to see the actual holes I am putting in the paper at 100 yards

I was looking at a Sightron SIIBSS 6.5-20x50 which seems to be a discontinued optic though. I have no first hand experience with their products and am also budget conscious, so I wouldn't mind paying less for something similar.

Just looking for input, also wondering if I can get by with less magnification or if the optic of my choosing is a bit overkill.

I had a Sightron 4-12 on my CZ455 17hmr and it was fantastic. I can only imagine a 6.5-20 would be even better!

My 452 22LR wears a Bushnell 4200 4-16x40 AO. It required more than 0moa base to shoot silhouette out to 200yards, but with 1/8 moa turrets and the adjustable objective it's a practical and aesthetic choice.

What would be the benefit of choosing the SII 6.5-20x50 over the SII 6-24x42?

Also, be cautious of the rings that you plan on using with the 455. It is hard to get the bolt to clear the scope on these guns.

I have the 455 varmint in .22 with the Nikon 4-12 pro staff rim fire scope on Talley rings, no issues with bolt clearance

I put a vortex viper 4-16x44 LR on mine with thoughts of turkey hunting. On a calm day it will hit empty shotgun shells at 200 yards.

Bushnell 4200 4-16 also. With j&p 11mm-weaver adapter with Burris zee medium height rings.. clears everything perfectly probably couldn't go any lower even if I wanted to. Great scope for the price I switch it out and put it on a .308 when needing a second gun for someone
