Need optics help for my AR

There are so many optics out and I know nothing about them, so looking for some help.
I have a NEA 14.5".
I plan on shooting 200 yards. Maybe 300 at best. Probably 100 the most.
I want to spend 400 or less, if possible, if not then well I need to spend more.

I don't need it to survive storming a beach, or bouncing in the back of a pickup running from zombies.

I just need it to hold a zero for the range, and it's ride in a padded case on a cushion seat to storage.

I am not sure if I care if it looks out of place on an AR. I did find a NCstar brand 7x tacticool magnifier and 3-9x42 mark III tacticool scope for like 300 bucks new. But NCstar seems sketchy with reviews all over the map.

But then I really like my Vortex Viper on my Tikka, and could pick up a used one.

I have no "irons" right now even.
I figure this is better suited to this forum then the optics one for some reason.
 
I have the same rifle and love my Eotech that I picked up on the EE for what you are looking to spend. Not sure if you are looking for magnification or not but for reference, here is what it looks like mounted on my NEA-15 at 100 yards.

A little magnification would be nice, but even one of those flip in front magnifiers would be fine.

Seems hard to get any kind of accuracy from a 1x 2moa sight.
The aimpoints look great on AR's.

Vortex Strikefire looks good too, but a 4moa rectile seems HUGE!
 
The Aimpoint works fine to 100yds, but it really shines in CQB action at 50yds and under for quick aiming. Just reread your 1st post. If you just want a range gun, then don't bother with red dots. You want a good scope for longer ranges.

That's what I figured.

I was thinking about a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50 for on it. I love the one I have on my 204 tikka.
Can you use a quick mount with a scope and still keep an actual zero? So I could be between irons (well plastics) when I get some and the scope?

At 300m 4moa will cover about 13" of the target. Then you need to hold about 15" high to comp for bullet drop. 300m is hard enough with a 2moa aimpoint, it is even harder with a big red beach ball.

Nikon or Leupold make some decent 1-4 scopes for the AR market that come up on the EE then put it in an AR specific mount. It will probably be over $400 but more reliable in the long run.

Well that's no good.

Looking into the Nikon and Leupold, but probably just put a normal scope on it. Quick mount if they are reliable.
 
I just picked up an aimpoint pro. Working great, gets me on target fast. For longer range I use a clone of an aimpoint 3x magnifier I got off eBay for around $80. It came with the flip to side mount and lines up perfect with my pro. Cheap and works like a charm.
 
Another option would be Hi-Lux CMR. 1-4 power magnification and illuminated reticle. Wolverine carries them (see below).

There are quite a few glowing reviews on youtube.

Redfield Revolution with Accu-Range retical.
 
I was in the same boat as you a little while back. I wanted something for decent distance, but also for short range. Hummed and hawwed at what to get....Eotech, Leupold, yada yada.

Finally I managed to pick up a brand new Leupold Mark AR 1.5 - 4 x 20mm for $225. Still have BUS irons....just can't shed old habbits I guess.

Also good to have in case she goes down

Just wondering when the last time you had a scope "go down" was?
I still have a Bushnell 3-9x40 that must be close to 20 years old and the silly thing still holds zero year after year.
And where did you find that AR animation? That's sweet.

My 14.5 currently has a fakotech and cowitness BUIS but now that I have a 10.5 on the way I think I am going to ditch them and try to find a Leupold 1.5-4 like AR Canuck. I would rather have a 1-6 or something but that Leupold looks good and I can't find anything else I like that fits my budget. A $900 Trijicon accupoint 1-4 or a Nightforce is just way too much money for me to spend on an AR optic. I prefer to save those $900+ scopes for long range rifles. Yes, I am cheap (most of the time;))

Like you, I am chea.....frugal :) Hence why I went with the Leupold....does the job, yet won't cost nearly the same as an EOTech on Trijicon. Never had a scope go down....but it only needs to happen once for you to realize how precious those BUIS are...

And if I'm shelling out 1K for something, it would have to be for another rifle :)

Any have experience with the Lucid HD7?
Seems like that and a magnifier would make a pretty good combo, and let me do 2-3 gun and still sit and hit paper at 200 with a sense of accuracy.
