hey folks,,a friend gave me all his reloading equipment and included was a 30.06 pacific decapping die along with the seating die,,problem is the decapping die is not marked FL or N,,it is marked 8X..sent hornady a message asking for info and they told me they have owned pacific since 1966 and have no idea what this marking means..can anyone help me? is this a neck sizer or full length sizer?? thanks for any info given...cheers

have pacific die instructions sx-- full length size die. This die should be used on all cases that you desire to return to factory dimensions.
n-- neck size only. this die should be used on cases that will be used in the same rifle in which they were originally fired
s -- seating die. the die is used with either sx or n die for seating and or crimping bullets
may 8x is just sx hope this helps

thanks oldwelder,,the seating die is marked S (somewhat sloppily I might add) but the sizing/decap die is definately marked 8x,,had to get out my magnifier to make sure though..you know of a die being marked sx so I will assume this is the same...both dies also have a Y stamped on them...thankyou

Resize a case and look at it, you will be able to tell by looking at the case if it was full length resized or just neck sized. You will need to clean and polish the inside of the die to get it back in shape.
I have a 1967 Pacific reloading manual and your dies are older than this, your dies are not plated so they are not Durachrome.
Below I Googled "Pacific SX reloading die" and may have found the answer. (it was a S and not an 8)
