I have been cleaning up my powder magazine and found some 8506 and 8577. Nothing noted on the drum as to what relative speed they are.

I used to use a lot of powder in the 3031 to 4895 range, so I am guessing they would be in that range. Anyone have data?

Pretty sure the 8577 came from Expro. Probably a military powder.

I checked my Expro files. They made both powders. I found both of them on a list that seems to be fasted to slowest, although it does not say that.

If so, 8577 is between 3031 and 4895 in speed. If memory serves, it is finer grained and meters better.

8506 is slightly slower than 4320 , if this list is in order.

I have used a quite a few pounds of CF8506 over the years. It is slower than 4320, faster than 4350. One of the most accurate powders I have used in the 30-06, and wonderful in the 9.3X62.

Thanks. That suggest the list I have is in order.

Expro got sold. The factory is still making powder so far as I know. I have not been involved with them for 10 years.
