Here is the deal: I bought one of those Savage Axis 22-250 package deals with the scope. The scope is a Bushnell 3x9x40mm. Even shooting at targets only 100 yards away, I can`t see where I shot. When out shooting coyotes, I want something that I can Zoom in at least 200-450 yards. I don`t want to break the bank either. A buddy has an Elite 6500 on his gun and it is sweet, but way too much money for what I want to spend. Is there anything sweet for around $150-$250????Thanks,Darcy

I looked on Wholesale Sports website. The Tasco 6x24x42 is $114. The store is an hour from me. Does anyone here know, the savage axis package with scope...what are the rings? Do I need different ones if I buy this scope? I also looked at their Tasco rings and they look like the ones I already have. I just hate to get home and find out, I needed the rings also.
Ended up buying a Bushnell Banner 6x24x40mm. WSS put it on the gun and bore sighted it. Got home and tryed to sight in at 100yrds, but was having a ton of problems. I finally moved to 50yrds and with a ton of adjustment, finally got it to hit the center line, but it was low by 4.5 inches. No matter what I did, I couldn`t get it to come up. The top turret, I could max it out and it still wouldn`t move on the target. Not very happy camper. Getting a friend to re-boresight it. He is thinking that I might need to shim the mounts if that sounds correct?
I think you'd have been better off buying a higher quality scope with less magnification. I'm sure you'll find the higher zoom levels of that Tasco pretty useless anyhow. Just remember that with scopes you usually get what you pay for and just because the box says the scope will magnify 24x doesn't mean it's useable at that setting.
Still, that Tasco is probably a an upgrade from the packaged Bushnell. Hope it works out for you.

With cheap glass, higher magnification does NOT mean you will be able to see things more clearly.
You will "see" more with high quality, lower magnification, than with cheap, high magnification glass. I have sighted objects at a measured 380m with several scopes, and it is amazing the fine detail you see with a high quality 6x scope.
