Need recommendations: Drop leg holster for Sig p228 clone

Fobus and serpa are bar none the worst one you could use lol

Stick with a belt mounted holster, drop legs are not all that good and get old fast. I would suggest anything from safariland, you can get them cheap from holsterops.com

For a low cost option, try Holster Ready:

They are in the USA, but they do ship to Canada.

Just got my Blackhawk Serpa, I spoke to their tech service numerous times for recommendations. I also got a concealed holster with quick connects so I can use either set up. I thought the pricing was reasonable. With one hand I can switch between my thigh rig and concealed holster very quickly ... Loving it go Blackhawk

I hate Serpas. They are too modular and not actually very good at anything.
Shawn has some valid points. Drop Leg aren't great. But if you really want a dropleg, go Safariland

I have blackhawk set up as well. The quick disconnect is awesome!!! I tend to use thigh rig for outdoor range and then switch to hip for indoor shooting. Just something i prefer doing. Not one complaint about the blackhawk products!!

unless your wearing scuba gear, why get a drop leg? The seals developed them to place the handgun somewhere it wouldn't interfere with dive gear. Every one else saw seals using it, didn't ask why and started doing it because it "must be good, the seals use it" Slower, more awkward and catches on everything you walk past. but each to their own.

If you really want one, go safariland. Ther serpa stuff is clunky but it works and is cheap.

Although this is probably true, I prefer the drop leg because my knackered shoulders prefer a reach to the thigh rather than a snap to my waist....I do however wear it as high as possible....

I have worn a thigh rig for years, I find it easier to control when wearing a tac vest and other weapons, and when lying down to shot I find it very easy to access ... and NO I don't have it because of a Navy Seal (per cocked and loaded) the intention was to have a piece of gear that didn't interferr with your other gear. Canadians have been using thigh rigs for a long time. Try it if you don't like it there are certainly enough gun-nutters that will take it off your hands what ever version you select I have never used a safariland product so I cannot comment ... I do know the Blackhawk product is reliable and durable. Your call if you want a thigh rig. I find gun club members typically talk you out of it as they have never had to don one or use one ... so the simple matter is a waist rig.

Makes sense, you actually have a reason for it...:) go with a safariland, you won't be sorry!

With a tac vest in canada they make sense as we're pretty much banned by range procedure from using any other form of holster. I've seen them in three gun, but i've got short arms, i just arrange my gear so i can use a regular belt holster.

If you know exactly what you are after and you can keep all the model numbers, variations, materials, colours and security levels straight, Safariland makes a great holster. Downside to Safariland is it is specific to one pistol only, so you need one for every pistol and configuration thereof. Opticsplanet.com sometimes has discount prices on Safariland holsters so their site is worth a look, but again you need to know exactly what you are looking for and make sure you are ordering that specific holster. They do have a Canadian site.
