Hi all,

I purchased a 45-70 Marlin 1895 from someone, and included in the package was a nearly full box of bullet barn 405grain 45-70RNFP SLG BB lead cast bullets. I have never reloaded cast bullets

Is there a website like hodgdon reloading for lead bullets?

I do need starting/max loads, plus the case dimensions. A full 1lbs bottle of IMR4198 came with the package, as well as a 3 die set from hornady.

Regards

Load the cast bullets exactly the same as you would load a jacketed bullet of the same weight.
Look in any manual and treat the finish load as the starting load, then go from there.
The Marlin 45-70 is a very strong rifle. A top load for it from any manual may knock you on your bum, or at least hurt your shoulder and give you a head ache, but if the load is in any mainline manual, it will not hurt the rifle.

Great Thank you, I currently have a few regular bullet reload manuals, my favorite is the new Hornady in PDF format. I will start with that.

Lyman has good cast load data in their load books especially in the dedicated cast load book. They have put out several different editions and I have been about to collect them all as they are all interesting. RCBS came out with a cast load book years ago and its still available online.
the castpics website and the castboolits website have tons of info as well.
