i just recently bought a couple of pounds of reloader 7 powder. But when i got home i realized that my Lyman reloading book didn't have the load information on reloader 7 that i needed, so i was wondering if anybody new some good loads that work for a .223 with a 55gr bullet.

The Alliant website should have it..

This is from the 2008 Alliant reloading book. Only thing is that I can't find it to say if these are max loads or just good loads, anyway it is what it is work up to it as usual and good luck. Of course it doesn't show Reloader 7 with 55 gr bullets, but I use Reloader 15 with 140 gr bullets in my 260 and it doesn't show that either.

Hey Boo, do you have a scan for the next page 270 win and such?
Thanks.

No, that is the total list for all the rifle cartridges Hercules had at that time. I think RL-7 is too fast for the 270 even with light bullets. Even the listed loads for the 30-06 top out at 150 grain bullets and even that produces a low velocity with maximum pressure.

The Reloder 7 is too fast for the .270 in its normal operating range.
I have used that old load of 22.4 grain Reloder 7 with 55 grain quite a bit. Never a sign of pressure and good accuracy.

I bought a can of RL7 a few weeks back because I could not get any Benchmark. Used it with 40 grain BT's and it was awesome. 3600fps with 24 grains and ultra accurate. I then tried it with sierra 53's and turns out it is consistently more accurate than my old standby benchmark load. Not as fast as BM, 175fps less usually but 3300 fps and deviations of less than 15fps on ten shot strings makes for tight little groups. This is the max load from everything I've read so be cautious blah blah blah. No pressure signs and shoots like crazy. Bought three more pounds yesterday. It's funny stuff though, looks like two powders mixed. Two types of granules and is a bit prone to static cling in the powder measure but no big deal.
