Need scope advice

I need to scope a rifle for range use ( 300 WSM in a savage BVSS ). Doubt I'll ever hunt with it. Can't afford a Leupold but I want to buy a bit better than low level bushnels and the sort. I like the look of the weaver fixed power. My range of shooting will be 500M and possibly up to 800M. Does anyone have any experience with these fixed power weavers ( Thinking 15X) at these ranges.

- Do they hold zero
- do they break down and if so how is the guarantee and service
- are they clear etc.

all input very welcome as spring is approaching and I have to get this project going. ( Itchy fingers )

If your looking at the Weaver line, you might want to find a 16x T series. Better mechanics and fully multicoated.

The Grand slam and T series are known for their adjustment systems. As a general rule the short range br guys are not happy with the Leupold system. Hopefully things will change in 2006
