Hey guys. I am working on my 1911 (as a newb, quite the learning curve) but I come to a problem. Looks like the Dlask hammer goes back too far. It impacts the grip safety. I can drop in the slide lock safety without the grip safety and hammer back. But with hammer back and grip safety in... I cannot get the slide lock safety in because (what I seem to think) the hammer hits the grip safety and the hammer doesn't go back enough to slip it in. Do I need a beaver tail safety that lets the hammer go back further? I was planning on getting one eventually. Is this forcing my hand? If so where can I get a cheap one fast? Thanks

The short answer is probably yes, you need a grip safety that is compatible with the different style hammer.

That's what I thought. Where would be a good place to find one of those? Also since I have started a thread.

My dlask hammer has the norinco... strut? Probably the wrong term, but the thing that goes down to the mainspring. When putting the mainspring housing in I have to compress the spring a 1/10 of an inch to get the pin in. Is this a problem? Should the hammer strut touch the mainspring and the pin just go in without having some compression?
