So here it is Ruger coming out with a bolt action in 450 BM and as the name implies was thinking it looks like it could be next on my want list . Ammo is available see it here and there . Is it a harder recoiling than a 45/70 ? Unstanding that the weight and stocks make a difference . Is it a good dear caliber and maybe for moose ? Bush gun . Would like some input from those who have shot and carried in this caliber. Is it a good new ( to me) extra caliber to be geting interested in or just stick with good old 45/70 ? Price wise they compare ,I think 450 is a hotter round ? I allready have leavers in 45/70 ,44 mag and 38/357 but allways liked bolt actions its what I grew up using .

Bought one last year in a scout model, like it enough that is become my go to gun from walking around my quarter section of brush

that said, the 450 Bushmaster doesn't perform to the same capacity as the .45-70.

the 450 Bushmaster also has the knock against it in that it doesn't use the standard .458 bullets, but the more obtuse .452 bullets. this will drive costs up if you're a reloader.

Its like a big brother to the 45lc. I dont think its got anything on the 4570. Will deer or bear notice ? Most likely not but the 458 has more options in bullet weights and construction.
A 458wm loaded appropriately can do anything you ever need although not built as lightly
I have a 4570 and 458wm and will likely buy more of each and skip over the 450 bushmaster and the 450 marlin
Those are my thoughts

Thanks guys ! Now I am on the fence . Some good points to take in to consideration . Just hope they don't come out in a lament stock and stainless (LOL!!!) Going to have to go shoot my 45/70 more this summer ! Burn some of my ammo Stash!

I already reload 45 colt with .452 bullets, so it does not drive up costs as a reloader... that's what makes this round interesting for me
