What would you choose?

Smith and Wesson M&P in 9mm

or

Grand Power K100 in 9mm

I will use only 9mm reloaded ammo, would like to have the ability to use it for IPSC. I noticed that they are close in price, Best I saw for the SW was $679, and I beleive the K100 can be had for $600. What do you think?

Thanx

The origional M&P, the Sygma was a flop. This current one seems to have more appeal.

I'd go with the K100. Mags are also cheap, and the owner takes the time to talk with his customers.

3 weeks ago I'd have said the M&P. Now though, I'd have to go with the Mark6~!

When you think about it... there are no other pistols available to Canadians which incorporate the rotating barrel (The Baretta Px4 is Prohibited and the Colt Socom is... well... even if it was available it would probably be $2k at least).

Definitely go with the K100 - you get unique technology and as mentioned a designer who actually visits the board and posts!!
I am waiting for TSE to get some then I am placing an order :)

P.S. Canuck223: Where can you order mags? I'd like to buy some now in preparation :p

There's more accessories for the M&P since no one even heard of K100 in the US…

I heard M&P mags are $80 a pop I thought $50 for Steyr mags was a lot

For as long as they have them in stock, Marstar list the mags at $25 each.

Well if you are interested in shooting Production in IPSC why not look at either the CZ 75B/85/SP01 or the Tanfoglio. The CZ and clones of same sell for the same money and are proven to be very competitive in IPSC. If you have an outside desire to shoot IDPA/CDP then the CZ 75B/85 or Tanfoglio would be a better choice IMHO.

The nice part about the Tanfoglio is you can buy a .22LR or .40Cal conversion kit for the gun. I have the .40cal conversion Kit on order and next will be the .22LR kit.

The S&W has had some good reviews but I am no fan of Tupperware guns.

Take Care

Man if I could shoot as capable as my Tanfoglio can I would go on tour. Just got to get a trigger job on her one day. I think Sean is avoiding me in a head to head as he hasn't shown up in Terrace yet! :D

A couple months ago I was trying to decide between the M&P vs. the K100. The M&P is a bit smaller and is one of the most ergonomic guns I have ever handled. The K100 has a rotating bbl., is almost as nice to hold and is cheaper. Mags and holsters are inexpensive as well. In the end the k100 won, and for the most part I'm happy with it. I've already posted what I don't like so I won't go into it again. Also, customer service for the k100 is probably better than what you would get from S&W.
