I need some info on this shotgun that a family member has. It is a jj Sarasqueta from Eibar Spain. 10 guage that he aquired in the mid 50's. Looks in great shape. Anybody know anything about these? I found info on Sarasqueta shotguns but nothing in 10 guage. Seems to be something of a rarity. Here are some pics. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Ya looks pretty nice although I have never seen it in person. He is thinking of selling it so I am trying to dig up some info on it.

10 gauge used to be all the rage with goose hunters. Then, along came non-tox shot laws. 10 ga went the way of the dodo bird and goose hunters switched to 12 ga, 3" Magnum shells.

The Spanish makers, Sarasqueta included, are well respected. Sadly, the guns that they sold into the North American market in the 60's and 70's aren't as well built as their current production.

10 gauge Sarasqueta's are not rare. You can load non-tox loads for it and use it in the goose blind, but your blind mates will think you're loonie. You can use it for upland birds, but you'll find it oppressingly heavy after a day in the field.

Guns such as this one are fine mechanically, but there's no market for them.

Well said.

OP: Maybe have the chokes reamed for steel shot. The gun looks early enough that it might have 2 7/8' chambers.
