I new and I was referred by my son to see if you could help us.

My husband just acquired his grandfathers after many years of searching.
It is a winchester 38 55 laver action centrefire rifle made in 1894.
The previous owners or even perhaps his grandfather missed place or the forearm was broken. I was wondering if anyone could tell us where to go or any had any suggestions as what to do. We would like it as original as possible. We also need a hammer spring I think by the way it looks as someone has try to made one that was simular to it work but it is not quite right.

thank you.

Hi, and WELCOME!!

The rifle was actually MADE in 1894? Probably a MODEL 1894 Winchester.

In any case, try Brownells. Just Google and you'll find the web address. You can also Google 1894 Winchester .38-55.

I am sure you can find parts.

western Gunparts in Edmonton should have parts incl. wood for a '94, definitely worth doing! Slug the barrel for bore size and use cast bullets tailored to fit and it will be easy on the barrel, esp. if it is not "nickle steel".
