The top rifle is indeed a Ross, a military Mk II 5*, made in 1910. The rifle's serial number is the combination of the number over the 1910 and the two letters following.

I'm a Ross newbie myself, so others here will no doubt add more, including telling you which regiments your rifle "served" with, but your rifle was, over time, downgraded for drill purpose DP, and then allocated for cadet use. Which cadet corp is again hidden in the numbers.

Value? See the thread I started with a similar question here http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=410171 with the consensus being somewhere between $1200 and $2000. They can be found for less. I picked up my 5* in January for a noticeable bit less, for example.:D

The DP and cadet markings may have an effect on value.

At any rate....a very nice score.

the one on the bottoms not worth much I had a chance to buy three from a gun dealer for 75 bucks each.

The II***** Ross looks quite presentable externally. Bore might respond to a thorough cleaning. Needs a rear sight, but that is not a major problem.
The cut Vetterli has only nominal value.

Thanks so far I will tell the owner of the ross what he has

We will be looking to sell it I am sure.

He wants a nice 270 so maybes someone will be interested in trade and sale for him.

I just want to make sure he gets what the gun is worth :) I had no idea that a ross was worth that much I figured 250

What would the 41swiss vetterli its a rimfire rifle, made from 1871-78 be worth?

Has the Vetterli been converted to centerfire? If not, it can be classed as an Antique, which may raise the value. Its spoterized though, which kills the value.

Even if the Vetterli has been converted to CF (not very darned likely, as the ammo was never available here) it is still an Antique: no ammo commercially available.

You CAN make brass from .348 Winchester (or .50-110 Express, if you have lots of that) but it is strictly a handloading proposition.

Checkering on the Vetterli is factory. What is missing here is half of the fore-end, half of the magazine and the front band and clearing rod. These were the official swiss rifle, took the .41 Swiss rimfire round. Quite popular for hunting, up until about the 1930s. They were cheap and they could fall down a mountain without getting hurt.

Ross is, as has been ID'd, a Mark II*****. Issue to a Cadet Corps in April, 1922. Army will have a directory of all Cadet Corps, so you can trace it that way.

Nice toys!

I'd say that $1200 for the ross may be a bit high unless the bore is VG.

They range between $600 on the low side for a functional wall gun to $1300 for a very nice gun. I'd put that one in the mid range just because of the dark bore (pitting/wear?) and the pitted bluing. Still, that makes it worth a fair bit. Also, the price should be a little higher because you just aren't seeing them for sale.

Nope. Can't be a centerfire repeater of any sort and still be classed as an "antique".

If it has been converted to centerfire, it's not an antique. The "no ammo commercially available", is a myth. If anyone disagrees, please post your official source.

That M69/71 Vetterli is a parts gun. I have bought several Vetterlis like that for $50-75. You can sell the bolt for about $50 (they are in demand to be converted to centerfire), maybe $100 if you have converted it to centerfire. The rest of the parts might total $25-50 - it appears that the elevator mechanism is missing, but the rear sight is there as well as a barrel band and a few other commonly lost or damaged parts.
