Need some help

I have a question mostly for the people familiar with the B.A.R. rifles.
I have a friend that owns an older BAR made in Belgium, and another friend that owns a newer BAR assembled in Portugal.
The newer rifle works flawlessly, the older one not so much.
The older rifle jams quite frequently, it leaves the empty shells halfway the ejector port.
Is this normal for this rifle? can something be done? or to complicated to even bother?

Adjust the mag feed lips, polish the ramp and chamber and bolt.

Check the recoil buffer pad as well, they wear out and disintegrate over time, just replaced one for a friend
