I have the oportunity to purchase a beretta 686 special...the gun is near mint, 20 gauge, ejectors, nickel finished receiver highly engraved, manual safety, selective trigger, 28 inch barrels, comes with 4 beretta chokes...can't find a lot of info on this firearm, other than the fact that there were not a lot produced...(i think)...not sure what a fair price would be, but the seller is asking 1000.00...i believe the firearm was produced in 1993...any info would be appreciated...

Thanks,

Wayne...

I'm not an authority on shotgun prices, but if its as you describe it well worth that price. A friend bought a 12 ga. last summer and paid a lot more than that for it. You won't find any nice Beretta's for under that.

They are a great field gun. I hunted upland birds with one for years. In good condition, I would value one at $1,200 with choke tubes. The main thing to check is where the top lever is ... With the barrels on the gun, the lever should be well to the right of bottom dead center. If I were buying it, I would want to shoot it and make sure the barrels are properly regulated and that everything is functioning properly.
