Need Some Help

I came across a used Savage 111 in .270. Should I grab this gun for my 6.5 x 55 build, which is basically going to be a re-barrel, re-stock, and re-trigger? Or leave it on the shelf? What should I be looking for, I asked about stagger feed vs. center feed ( it's a stagger feed). If I get the serial number can I get the specs for this gun? Thanks everyone.

There's nothing wrong with a Savage 111 in .270. Leave it alone.

Lots of Swedish Mausers at Tradex already in 6.5x55mm. Prices are pretty reasonable.
