NEED SOME INPUT - SIG GSR 1911, or PARAORD SSP in COVERT?

I'm stuck between these two 1911's right now. The SIG is an amazing gun all around with no MIM, but i'm not sure how I feel about the external extractor...and the unconventional looks.

The ParaOrd on the other hand is a well priced, all-in gun that will allow for a lot of improvement.

The money isn't much of an issue - because i've set the money aside - but if i went with the SSP i'd have the extra money to shoot with.

Input, input, input. Let me know what you're thinking and what you've heard.

I cant comment on the Para but I can on the SIG GSR. I have one in stainless. Very tight and very accurate. Fired so far 200rds factory ammo without any hitch. It's good quality and decent trigger out of the box.
 
Totally different price points. The SSP is a pretty expensive 'standard' 1911...the Sig GSR is an expensive 'unique' looking 1911.

I've seen SSPs sell for a pretty penny and then some, like $1000. At that price point, I'd be looking into other brands as well. Not that the SSP is bad...just that it is a competitive market out there.

STI is the default brand in my books, but RRA, SA, Kimber, etc all make good 1911s
 
Is there a rental range near you where you can try them, or maybe some CGN neighbours that can help? I would look at using one for a class, and running one for a day and a few hundred rounds each if I could...

I have a recently purchased GSR too, my question for you is have you managed to find a holster that fits. Seem it's a little wider in the slide than
my STI Trojan and Para 16-40. Would have been nice to use same holster for all.

Any help is appreciated.
 
sure did post that. Started a project gun off an AO 1911, and I'm still torn as hell on the other. Don't know why I'm so indecisive, but I'm hoping someone will give me a ray of light that'll push me one way or the other. Thanks for noticing though ;).
 
Stay away from Para. I've had a few problems with them and I think they are slapped together compared to other 1911's in the same price point. Resale value on a Para is poor. Sigs are unique and well built and hold their resale value should you decide to sell it someday.
 
I have the Sig GSR Carry and it is a beautiful gun in all aspects with 1 exception. It has a lanyard attach point machined into the heel and that thing is sharp enough to cut you! I fail to understand how this made it to market with that point but its easily remedied with a small piece of leather for filler or an actual piece of machined metal placed in the opening.
Its a beautiful gun and highly accurate once broken in albeit a bit on the pricey side.
