My range time has been limited this year. None the less I slog on.
I am working on a load for my .284 F Class rig. (found here http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1214206-My-first-F-open-build ) Things are going well and I found some nice tight grouping at a pretty hot load. 180gr Bergers 55.40gr of 4831sc. While tweeking to the tenth of a grain I'm finding my primer pockets are pretty much gone and I'm starting to get some bolt face erosion. Primer pockets are now 2 thou over.
Here is the problem. Today at the range ---- shooting for score and not for group size ---- she shot lights out. Brutal bolt lift and some brass transfer onto my bolt face. I've never had grouping like this at 500m. 50s, 49s, 48s, all with 4+ V Bulls......it was pretty breezy today too.
So the big question is keep tweeking this node with meplat adjustments and neck tension and deal with the pressure issues (read order some new bolt heads and buy new brass every fourth reload) or start from square one and find something less hot.
Don't ask me what my fps are. My secret. Lets just say these are wind defying projectiles. Jerry may have been right about touching the limits of 3000fps.
