what stocks are you using on your savage 110 long action. varmint/benchrest/tactical. I need some ideas and i need one that will look good with a 30" pipe. i've seen some really nice/inexpensive wood ones out of the states but have no way of getting them here.

if you could post some pics too that would be very helpful. thanks.

I've just ran into the same problem. In a long action there are very few choices. I had my heart set on a Stockade Prairie Dog stock and they won't ship cross Border. Other than that McMillian makes a Long Action 110 Stock. I'd check with Robertsons as they might, but they would be in the same price range as a McMilly.

I ended up modding my existing tupperware stock to stiffen it and get the tactical look and feel. Too much work. Do not suggest.

Id imagine you could get a stockade stock from one of there dealers if you went through the paperwork that the member did with the surgeon action posted not that long ago and you could get one. Normally I always buy through a Canadian source but Iam not aware of a dealer so you could try that route.

If you did the paperwork lock stock and barrel might ship one to you as I know they ship to canada on other items and they carry the stockade stocks.

Stockade just told me they don't ship to Canada, period. I don't know if that just was jerking me around or what, but he wouldn't even talk to me once I mentioned Canada.

If anyone sells stockade feel free to let everyone know.

SSS and Richards sell laminate stocks. They both have a "tactical" stock. Joel Russo also makes laminate stocks and he makes an A5-L which is an McMilley A5 clone in Laminate. He ships them north, they are about $400 US still. h ttp://www.russoriflestocks.com/

I know stockade themselves wont deal with Canada but there are places in the states that sell stockade stocks that do ship to Canada you would just have to file the propper paperwork to get accross the border.

you're still looking at $400 canadian not including import fees.

but i really like the look, as well as the Long Range Bench Rest (LRBR)

To improve your stock savage you will almost have to spend 350 or more to get a quality stock. Have you looked for factory laminate take off stocks for the savage LA???

The laminate varmint tactical is a nice stock and I have one on my 300WM Savage. I bought it direct from Boyds when they carried them and would ship to Canada. I haven't finished fitting it to my heavy barrel yet, I have swapped out the factory light barrel for a heavy.

i haven't seen that savage makes any. just for short actions. if i could get another bvss laminate stock i'd be happy. that's a very nice stock and only $200. i can't justify spending more than that on a comparable stock.

these are nice and only $160us

Just thought of these guys. They sell take off savage parts. They have bvss stocks in 110 action for 165USD. I've bought from them recently, good to deal with.

Oh yes. that might work butttt
I already have a 12bvss in 223. I guess I could just paint the stock so they don't look like twins.

maybe i should start a new thread but has anyone tried modding the laminate stocks? just a slight mod by carving down the grip a bit then re finish. more of a pistol grip style??

I know you can refinsh the laminate stocks. I mean work your butt off getting through the rock hard finish and then stain it a different color and then varithane/clear coat it again.

Tough as nails to get through tho.

thanks for all the great info so far. but i don't see any pics. does no one have an aftermarket/homemade stock they wanna show me:)

i'd actually consider making my own out of some sort of hardwood but i don't have the necessary tools.
