Need some Ross help

Here are some pictures of my last Ross. This one shoots .308 diameter bullets very well and appears to be almost unaltered, barrel is aproximately 27". The rear sight is marked "Canada Tool & Specialty Co. _TJ New Glascow, N.S." What do I have and what is it worth? Hoping some of you Ross experts can help. Please ignore the sling it's only for convenience.

The New Glasgow sight is the correct sight for the MkII 3* ross. Looks like someone moved it from the barrel to the receiver. Not standard issue.

The 2nd sight you have is for a CDN issue MkIII Ross and is still on the charger bridge.

These early Ross rifles have a .299" bore and .309" groove so it will shoot .308" bullets well.
The CTS sight is a Sutherland MkII correct for a Ross MkII3*.

Your Mk II 3 Star rifle has had the forend cut off at the mid band, thus the upper band and bayonet lug are long gone. This was an extremely common mod.

If not for that it would be worth a lot more.
Actual value? Hard to say for sure.

How's the bore? Clean, shiny, deep rifling? Dark, worn out? That has a huge effect on value.

The fact that the buttstock info is still there and seems unsanded is a big positive.

The fact that the 3 Star is the most common rifle found is a factor, far from rare.

I'll throw a guesstimate out...$250-$300. That's well above Bubba pricing. That's if it has a good bore.

If the bore is excellent it might be worth your while to graft the stock under the band. Nosecaps are 'out there'.
