need some scope advice

I know some of you have been at this for a long time. Just looking for some advice on a scope for the rifle I want. For my first rifle I am looking at getting a browning xbolt 270 win, and this scope in the lr duplex http://www.leupold.com/hunting-shooting/scopes/vx-2-riflescopes/vx-2-4-12x40mm-adj-obj/
Whatnbare ypou thoughts or suggestions?

If you're looking for a hunting scope I would go with a bit less power in order to stay away from the AO. My brother's 270Win wears a 3.5-10x Leupold which I think is pretty close to perfect for that rifle flexible and the country he hunts (Southern Alberta).
 
Tyvm for the info. I just read what ao is. This might sound dumb but why would you want to stay away from ao? Sounds like it would make it better.

If you're hunting with an ao scope you may not have time to adjust it properly which can lead to excessive parallax which can lead to a miss or poorly placed shot.

I have two VX2 scopes. I have the 3-9 x 40 on my 270 win, and i have the identical scope you mentioned 4-12 x40 AO on my 243 coyote rifle. I love it, that extra power helps you out across a 250 yard shot. I have not used the same set up without the AO, so i cant comment on identical scope with and without.
