Hey all, just posted something in the hunting forum. They told me to come here...basically I have a benelli sbe 3 that I love and shoot relatively well with - about 70-75 percent on the sporting clay course (I know it is not much compared to some of you guys) I do pretty well duck hunting and pheasant hunting - all done with the stock modified choke. Sooo turkey season rolls around and I decide to try, bought the most expensive choke I could find - a pattern master code black turkey choke, and low and behold I take two shoots at gobblers this week and miss both at 35-45 yards, while running heavy shot loads. The first time I thought was a mistake but the second time it was a really easy shot. I took the gun to my father is laws to check it’s pattern (yes I know I did this backwards) and low and behold it’s shoot high to the right...now I am figuring what the heck to do here.

I intend on hunting turkeys tomorrow, I am not confident bringing out my sbe 3 until I figure that issue out..
So here are my questions:

1. In your infinite wisdom Do you think it is a good idea for me to use my 3inch magnum loads on my 30 year old beretta over under with out it exploding ? I know this gun very well and have patterned it several times before and it’s dead on.

2. Do you guys think I should switch back to the factory benelli full choke and try to run that ?

I started googling this issue with benelli and it is absolutely brutal.

Thank you all for your time in advance, I really hope you guys can help me.

It's a well known issue with the SBE3. They shoot very high , regardless of the choke. I would not hesitate to use 3" loads in a Beretta with a 3" chamber. If the chambers are not 3", don't do it.

Use the beretta and sell the benelli. You dont need 3" shells to kill turkey
