Hi, guys my 13 daughter wants to go shooting at the range and I'm looking for a light .22 cal. She is having a problem with my .22 cal rifle too large and heavy. She's about 90 lbs soaking wet and I'd like something she can load and shoot herself.

If she changes her mind due to the cold range or finds for some reason she doesn't like it. I don't want too much invested in this, but I still want it to be good experience for her. I'm thinking a Husqvarna 22 Cal. Single Shot Youth Rifle from Trade ex just wondering how much it would weigh and if it would work for a tall thin no muscle girl. But I didn't say that. :D

+1 for the mini bolt. My 9 year old loves nailing the spinning gopher target at 25y. You might also consider the henry lever youth rifle or ruger 10-22 can be had with a pink stock if you are after semi auto.

The mini bolt is much more kid friendly. My 7 year old shoots it with no problems. The one benefit of the cub is there is no need to #### the bolt each shot. It automatically does it when cycling the bolt. But once they remember to #### it each time the mini is much easier to hit with.

there is a charter arms AR-7 in the EE. 2.5lbs and very compact takedown, 8 shot semi auto... very fun gun. im sure i'll get a bunch of people disagreeing with my suggestion because more people hate them than love them... but it's not a CZ and never will be, but it is small light and fun as hell.

You might consider a Winchester Wildcat. It's a well made, very accurate rifle that only weighs 4.5 lbs. Costs about $250. And if she remains interested in shooting she'll probably want to keep it as she grows up. My wife loves hers.

I seen young female cadets about that size shoot 12.5 lbs .308 target rifles without a problem. I am thinking a Ruger 10/.22 would be short enough for her. If it isn't, chop the stock to fit and buy a cheap stock off the EE when she grows out of it.

CZ American 16" barrel , take her to the gunshop and try a few, in two years the Mini 22LR will look goofy when shes 15. IMHO

My 10yr old daughter also has the Mini Bolt. The reason we chose this rifle was simply it was the smallest .22 we could find since my daughter is so petite. She loves it, but I find the trigger pretty rough, but like the fiber optic sights. Now she wants to scope it, but I think the scope we have for it is almost as big as the rifle lol. My local gunsmith also refused to drill and tap it for me for safety reasons. :(

Cooey model 39, Cooey 64..can be picked up fairly cheap...but to start, a single bolt type is the safest as it does not reload itself like the semi 64s do. But if confident in what she is doing, the 64 can be a lot of fun for many years.

A walk around a gunshow or used gun shop will often take you past a couple cheap single shots that have already been cut down. Some aren't the prettiest things but the prices are often good and the old school quality is nothing to sneeze at.

If you find something promising you can easily refinish, personalize it or paint it without any worries.

+1 on this idea!

It's a little harder around here to find a used shop. Hell even a gun store is near impossible I can think of 2 that aren't more then an hour away and thaty depends on the traffic the two close to me can take even longer.

cz scout, sometimes the cheapest guns to buy aren't the cheapest to own. it will hold its resale and when she is ready for an upgrade you will get your money back, accurate gun to boot.

Watch the EE and pickup a 'good ole' single shot Cooey 75 or the like; for ~$50-75 you can't go wrong.

I picked one up for my little guy and he'll burn through a brick of .22's in an afternoon...

The ends of his fingers get blistered from cocking the bolt and he still wants more ammo.:)
