Took a swede to the range today. Not happy, while expecting a boom, all I got was a click. It's a '41 husquvarna 6.5x55. The firing pin does not look broken, but is not touching the primers when fired. It moves when cocked but does not come out far enough. Any ideas? This gun worked flawlessly last time out. Maybe I did something while cleaning?

Does your Swede have a turned-down bolt?
If yes, check that the underside of the bolt handle isn't contacting wood. It sometimes swells just enough to stop the bolt from rotating fully into battery and may impede the firing pin blow.
PP.

The bolt has a straight handle ( not modified). I did'nt take the bolt apart while cleaning, but I thought I had read somewhere if the bolt is cocked when removed or the safety is turned it could cause problems. Or something like that. Am I way off here or is something like that possible. Thanks for any help.

#### the rifle and engage safety to vertical position. Remove bolt and turn shroud / firing pin assembly by hand clockwise. Reinstall bolt assembly, turn safety off. Now firing pin is in correct position to travel far enough to strike the primer. Test with live primer in casing [obviously without powder or bullet].
