Those 250's are made for teenage kids.
This. It's a cheap beginners quad, not designed for larger adults.
Answer this question honestly, what exactly are you going to do with it (light trail use, farm chores, pulling implements, snowplowing) and what are your expectations?
I know a lot of older people who still lean towards these smaller bikes, as those same engine sizes were available way back when, and they made for good, solid, reliable little trikes/quads, but make no mistake, the small displacement stuff is no where even close to the quality of the earlier stuff.
I too fell for the cheap and little trap a couple times. I tried to justify it being cheap and just using for light rides through easy trails, but after 6 months with each, both were pretty much destroyed (bushings wore out, bearings shot, electrical issues, cables broke/eroded, bulbs burnt out, plastics cracked), and I didnt abuse them other than Snow plowing. I did get parts, and managed to keep them going awhile, but constantly having failures on the trail was a real pain. I finally upgraded to a good brand name quad (Yamaha Kodak 450), and it was 10x the bike the cheaper ones were, only requiring fuel and an oil change since new, and it's been used hard and put away wet on a few occasions.
