I have some minor issues with my M1A loaded that I need to deal with, have sent 2 emails in the last month to Springfield Armory and no replies, hoping they are just busy but hoping some one knows of a short cut to a Canadian company that looks after problems here.

If you bought from a canadian springfield dealer they should be able to help you?

I remember being at the world wide distributors trade show a few years back as a buyer for steveston marine hardware. When I stopped at the springfield booth I was greeted by a rep and when I asked to handle a socom II he handed it to me (tethered to display on 5foot wire) BUT as soon as I said I was from a canadian outfit, he actually "took" the rifle out of my hands and became a douche right in front of me... LOL
Hope you get er sorted bud their warranties are "very" backed up stateside as well from what I've seen on other forums.

Oh boy, here we go.....every one keeps talking about the lifetime warranty so that was one of the reasons I bought it. (besides the fact that it looked so pretty!!)
I bought it off the EE in the spring so I guess warranty from the seller isn't likely:confused:
Don't want this to become a Springfield basher thread as the rifle is extremely accurate.....did I mention how pretty it is?
Unfortunately I do have a few issues that need to be adressed. The chrome is peeling off the side of the tail of the gas piston, the piston itself is fine so far. The op rod hits the reciever where it curves over the reciever on the outside, enough that if I leave it without reliveing the oprod guide at the curve I expect it will eventually break. The trigger was really nice but around the 1000 round mark it started to get, shall we say a little exciting at times? Doubles are great for a drink but sure screws up your groups and concentration at the bench.

To sum this up the trigger and the piston no biggy, I have a new in wrap usgi trigger group, the gas pistons are reasonably priced but don't think I should have to modify or pay for a new op rod!!! hence my query about warranty in Canada. Must be someone, just getting concerned with the lack of response to emails, called yesterday and left a phone message, will see how that goes.

I'm not posting this to bash springfield, I've been very clear throughout my history on cgn that I am not a fan but that is beside the point in this discussion but I'm stating it to be fair. I am biased LOL

BUT... while I have not worked on more than a couple or 3 dozen or so m1A's in the past few years , the trigger group was the number 1 reason the owner approached me to look at it. VERY VERY short hammer hooks , how they passed inspection I would never know.
word to the wise with ANY M14 type rifle that is new to you , learn about how the trigger functions and what to look for as an unsafe condition, if you are able to inspect it in person before a purchase..
I all honesty, I have serviced 9 , brand new SA trigger groups from rifles and at least a couple that where bought just as triggers.
here is what I found in just that small sampling.
unsafe trigger hooks
pin that holds the "sear" to trigger post not installed correctly (tight in sear and not trigger post, very wobbly sear)
cracked sear leg
all of the guys that brought me trigger issues chose to buy parts from marstar or treeline and have me rebuild the trigger over dealing with the hassle of warranty.
while I can't help you with the piston..... personally I would just replace the piston with a sadlak or GI
I can rebuild your trigger if you buy a garand or m14 trigger/sear and hammer....... I'll even do it for free if yer quick in getting it to me :D
after Christmas I won't be online much.

Thanks for the offer but I'm good for now, when it started screwing around I used the emery cloth trick to the back of the hammer and no problems since, a little heavier now but safe. If/when it gets bad again will install my hammer and trigger that I bought from Treeline a while ago.

Distributor in Canada was RNicholls / FN Sporting, they have gone bankrupt and you are going to be SOL, even when they serviced the CDN market / it was slow and bitter to deal with...

I will try to contact some Canadian distributors of the M1A to see what can be done if my emails and phone calls go unanswered....so much for the "life time warranty"??? I'm sure that this will be resolved, if not just want to make others aware of the reality of this issue.
