Hi guys, quick question. What is an easy way to set up this trimmer so that my 308. Win Lapua brass is all 2.005 each time? I keep fidgeting with the set screws but cant get it exact. Any tips or videos that work?
Here is my 2 cents based upon limited experience ( I've only been religiously reloaded for 3 years but have become very anal about it.. ( it's the fault of others on this board! Lol) one variable is how you set in your base and tighten it. ( I assume you have th Forster unit screwed into a solid piece of wood and clamp it to your relaxing desk? )
I slide my case neck over the guide pin until it touches the cutters and then slide it back into the base holder firmly and twist it shut to,clampdown solidly on the rim. I have learned I need to do thing exactly the same way including the same amount of pressure when turning the neck or my results are not always consistant
Also check the mounting screws to ensure the unit pieces are tightened to the alumninum plate it sits on. I had a scew loose and it kept affectng my measurements. - drove mr crazy until I realzed it was one screw that was screwing my up
Run your fingertip over each and every case head/rim, burrs there will cause you grief.
Many is the case head I've had to polish off the jagged scars from to get to a nice consistent trim.
