I did the same. I promised a friend that if he got his RPAL (he already had his PAL) that I’d give him his first pistol. A nicely upped Norc 1911 :)

Also bought a revolver for another first timer who got her RPAL. That’s two extras for me and a bonus because ones a female mother of three! ;)

Here’s mine from April 2008 (best year quality wise for a 3rd gen with the removable bushing). NIB nickel plated .45 Model P1856. Sadly they don’t make them like this anymore, QC is now a hit or miss since «#the guy#» left Colt in late 2014.

You can buy in peace those are almost brand new, a couple of mini scratch, the rest is perfect.

Last year at this date I was waiting for my RPAL and waiting to do my Law #9 here in QC, now a year later I'm waiting for the transfert on my 4th restricted. I'm far from Caramel but that's a start ;)

Literally am doing the same thing for a buddy from work. Finally convinced him to get his license. Did the same thing for my dad when he upgraded to a RPAL two years ago. The way I see it, it's worth it to get another voice on our side.
 
For myself I have put the stop on my restricted shopping for now but I am shopping hard for SA non-restricted before C 71 goes through after that this is going to be registered.
 
Well, I did my share and bought another pistol... Why? Why not! And because anyone that enjoys milsurps absolutely must have a Browning Hi-Power. Such an iconic and long serving military pistol... Now hopefully it will not get banned; I have others that are on the chopping block already. Damn virtue signaling Liberals! I will never vote for them, that's for sure...
