Hello gents, took this beauty on a trade and want to know the value? Thanks in advance.

Five shots were fired to test the rifle about 20 years ago, thats it, in pretty much mint condition.

Markings: No 4 Mk 2 (F) 12/54 PF

It could be what folks call an irish contract; given the current prices for lee enfields, being all over the place, i'd say somewhere between 600 and 1000 bucks, if the gun is near new?

There is no rust on the gun, maybe oil is what you see.

Its worth more than $450, that I do know...... I call BS on that quote.

But thanks Lou for giving me a realistic ballpark value of the gun.

:pNice find VZ, mine is a 1/54 Faz with 316### serial number, yours a 12/54, making it one of the approx 50,000 rifles made for Ireland but renagged on the sale by British government and put into long term storage in England. I paid $150 for mine, lol, but right now they are worth alot more than that;).

I'd say Lothepou had the closer estimate, seeing where Enfields are slowing climbing and do you have the matching No9Mk1 bayonet and scabbard?
The defects mentioned look like Suncorite finish peeling/ fading etc, from many years of cosmoline storage?? can't be sure.

They are deadly accurate shooters, probably the best out of the box of the Enfields for accuracy and you say yours was only test fired probably around the time it was rmoved from the mummy wrap 20 odd years ago.

Cool, Cool......sounds good, I traded one of my scoped favourites for this rifle.

RememberTheSomme-its a 336### serial number.

Nice to know a little history behind the rifle, and the fact its a nice shooter, although it will probably become a safe queen.

I am the third owner, first fired it five times, second not at all......bonus!

Thanks guys.

There was a good wartime, full wood Lee Enfield, on a table at the recent Kamloops gun show. It originally was priced at $500, but Sunday afternoon it sold for $375.

I'm gonna say guys, looks like some kind of finish damage to me. Rust before it bubbles open, that kind of thing. I don't think it hurts the value of the gun, really.

Not that I would sell mine, but I think I could get $500, and I think that one shows less use than mine so I am sure it would sell for more. But it can take a while. A lot of us want one to shoot and would prefer to pay less for a good working example showing more wear from use so we don't feel bad about spoiling one that is pristine or near to it.

Clearly that is gun oil spray on there.
The finish is perfect. Should actually have it slathered all over.
Nice rifle. I was offered one in the wrap for $1000 recently.
Had to reluctantly turn it down.
This one should fetch $800-$900 easy.

Gawd, but there are some wonderfully rude people on here, especially when you consider that they are all vying against each other to help someone else make a fast buck by jacking up the prices of rifles...... which is what this thread is all about..... and also happens to be the reason that I have not pitched in.

Perhaps it is a good thing that I am not running this forum. If I were, it would be limited to asking questions, discussions and giving help freely.

People wanting professional evaluations could to a Dealer or other person in the BUSINESS of doing professional evaluations... and PAY for the service, same as anyone else, plus GST, plus PST.

A little bit of POLITENESS goes a long way. You Azzhats with your smarta$$ know-it-all replies are turning off the older people on this forum..... who just happen to be the ones that YOU RELY ON for straight information. If THEY all quite, then you are left with nothing but Internet Azzhats as your sources of information.

Is that what you WANT?

Hey Buff, when some one like this OP asks the question he did ask , in the manner that he asked it- he is not looking for an honest opinion. He wants to be reassured that his purchase was a good investment and he will get an ample "return on investment" in short order. (He is likely looking for a good quick "out of EE" offer for it as well.)

So, do not give him what he asks for, instead, give him what he actually wants- reassurance and free advertising...

If he wanted an honest opinion he would have had more than just the one so-so closeup, and would not have given the sales spiel he gave. He would give a straight forward description (free of loaded words) , more close ups of all sides and various angles as well as a shot of the bore and rifling.

What were you thinking? Giving him your honest opinion? Geez, that is just begging for trouble.
Smarten up!
Jan.
