Need to replace my slide stop assembly on my MP9

I need to replace the slide stop assembly on my M&P9. I was told the only place to get Smith & Wesson parts is from Wolverine Supplies. I have been in contact with them and they will not ship me the new part but instead require me to ship my pistol to them and have the part replaced. Is this common practice? Why can I buy new triggers, sears, barrels etc.. and replace them all myself but can not buy this individual part and replace it myself? I am instead forced to fill out a mountain of paperwork to ship my pistol across the country and pay hundreds of dollars to do so only to have a $40 part replaced on my gun that I can swap out myself in seconds. Is there another supplier in Canada that would be willing to ship me this part?

Gun Parts Corp. lists M&P slide stop assemblies avaialble for around $25. I know they ship some stuff to Canada but I don't know about this part. it doesn't appear to be on the no-ship list.

S&W's website gives 1 413 781 8300 as the international customer service contact number. Give them a call and see what they recommend.

Did the right side slide release thumbpiece break off? I've seen that happen. I've replaced the unit as well. Have fun.

I shudder when (in a thread where) a new person is asking about Glocks and various Helpful Hannahs chime in with recommendations for Taurus', Walthers, and Girsans. When someone asks us about pistols (i.e.: which-pistol-should-I-buy?), (I think) one of the key considerations should be about the current and future availability of parts and service.

There shouldn't be a problem getting the part - who's the warranty depot these days. I've replaced that part on Gen 1's with no difficulty, I'll have a look and see if I have one lying around - if a Gen 1 will work for you.

I had the same issue when I was looking for manual safety spring for my Smith and Wesson Victory. I could not get one in Canada without shipping the firearm in so they could install it. I ended up purchasing it for 4.00 along with some other spare items from Numrich https://www.gunpartscorp.com/. It took 12 days to arrive from the States with zero issues at the boarder.
