Need your opinion on surefire forestend.........

I have a couple of ar's, need to mount lights. I have a 6p surefire light half assed mounted on one now, works ok, but not great. Need your opinon on:

1)-This forend. Will mount a light now, and as $$ arrive something better than iron sights.

2)- What light, and how many lumens (predator control, in the country so poor ambient light, range 50 - 100 yards) Thinking of M96.

Many thanks for your time.

He ships to Canada and uses (FRAUD ALERT). Winner 2x
Note that the 6P you have now will be as bright as the some of thededicated weapons lights.
(You mean AR180B right?)... Predator control

IMHO there are better rails for the cost of the Surefire

The Surefire forend will work fine for you.

As for the light, go with the 9V system. I have a M96 upgraded with the Larue throw lever and Charlie tail cap. Love it! With the 225 lumen bulb, it allows shooting and target identification out to 100+ yards. If you want more range than that, go with the 12V system with Turbo Head.

Indoors for civvy use get a 6 volt light or scout light, if I needed one for outside I'd get the biggest 9 volt unit I could afford, if you actually have a real need for a weapons light then you cannot have too much light. I have NO operational requirements so my 6P, 6Z are A-OK.

The M96 series should be minimum for outdoor use. You might want to get something bigger for your range.

The surefire rail is one of the best bang for the buck, if FF is not high on your list.

if you are looking at predator control at 50-100 yds, the the M96 series with the LOLA may work most of the time. The HOLA will work better and if you use the Turbo head conversion kit it will improve the down range beam significantly. Now if you plan to go out further, 150-200 yds then you need a 12 volt light. M98 series is in order...you can get that far with the HOLA in the M98 series. here is m98 series pic:

Garry ,we just got in a huge shipment of Surefire...give Chris a call at the shop as he knows this stuff inside out. Don't ask me as I can barely turn the lights on.

No 62 grn. 223 yet...dist. says it's on the way to us but limited supply. Say High when you come in...hope the snow stops soon, we had no snow all winter long but in the last week we had about a foot...go figure.

Snow is same here, near no snow all winter, and had to plow three times this week...!!!..well, at least the dugouts will fill.

Thanks for the help, will stop by.

Cheers.
